AI is moving fast in Canada. Statistics Canada reports that 19.2% of Canadian businesses used AI to produce goods or deliver services in the second quarter of 2026, up from 6.1% two years earlier. Urban businesses use it at about twice the rural rate: 21.0% versus 9.9%.
Customers are further ahead. In a September 2026 Research Co. survey, 59% of Canadians said they had used an AI tool such as ChatGPT or Gemini in the past month, and Google has offered AI Mode in Search in Canada since August 2025.
Adoption varies widely by industry. Information and cultural industries (42.3%), finance and insurance (40.4%) and professional, scientific and technical services (32.4%) lead the way, while construction (9.2%), wholesale trade (7.9%) and agriculture (4.5%) trail. These figures measure how businesses use AI themselves, not how their customers search, but they show how quickly AI is becoming part of everyday work. Whatever your industry, the businesses that build their AI visibility now are the ones customers will keep hearing about.
We’re based in Edmonton and work with businesses across Alberta and the rest of Canada, and that matters for AI search, because AI answers are local. Ask an AI tool for the best HVAC company in Edmonton, then in Calgary, and you’ll get different businesses. So we check your AI visibility in each city and region you serve, against the competitors you actually face there, whether that’s Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Vancouver, Toronto or anywhere else.
