What Google Ads actually buys you

Paid vs. earned on the same page
When someone in Edmonton searches for a service, Google shows four kinds of results, and ads can appear in three of them, including a sponsored spot at the top of the map pack. Google Ads is how you rent the top of that page on the searches that matter to you, the same day you decide to.

That speed is the point. You are not waiting months for rankings. You are in front of the person who is ready to book, today, and you only pay when they act.

Performance Max

Google's AI can find buyers everywhere, if you feed it the right signals.
PMax learns from whatever you tell it counts as success. We train it on real conversions and conversion values, not form fills that go nowhere, with audience signals and creative built for every placement.
03 · Local Services

Local Services Ads

Above every other result, with a badge that says Google vouches for you.
Pay per lead, not per click, at the very top of local service searches. We handle verification, dispute credits for junk leads, and the review velocity and response times that decide your ranking.

Remarketing & YouTube

The visitor who did not convert is your warmest audience.
Most people do not buy on the first visit. Remarketing and YouTube keep your business in front of them while they compare, at a fraction of the cost of finding them the first time.

Relevance is
cheaper than money

How the auction really works
Every search triggers an auction. Google does not simply hand the top spot to the highest bidder. It multiplies your bid by how relevant and useful your ad is, then charges you only what you need to beat the advertiser below you.

That means a well-built account routinely wins better positions than competitors spending more per click, and pays less for them

Expected click-through

Ads written in the words your customers actually search, tested against each other every month.

Ad relevance

Tight ad groups so the keyword, the ad and the promise all match what the person typed.

Landing page experience

A page built for that search, fast on mobile, with the proof and the phone number above the fold.
Simplified for illustration. Google's real Ad Rank uses more signals than bid and Quality Score, but the principle holds: the better-built account wins more auctions for less.

Where the money actually goes

Most accounts we audit are not short on budget. They are leaking it. Google will happily spend on any search loosely related to your keywords, and nobody is checking what those searches were.

This is what a single week of search terms can look like before we get involved.

Landing pages that convert

Sending paid clicks to a homepage is burning money. We build and test pages matched to each campaign's intent, with the proof and clarity that turn a click into a call.

Budget that follows results

Even spending across campaigns is how average accounts stay average. Budget moves to whatever produces leads at an acceptable cost, and the rest gets fixed or cut.

Clicks are not the goal. Calls, quote requests and booked jobs are. We wire tracking before a dollar is spent, so you can see which searches produce customers and which ones only produce clicks.

Done properly, every step

What most accounts are missing
Google Ads rewards the work nobody sees: the landing page behind the ad, the search terms checked every week, the tracking tested before launch. It is the unglamorous part, and it is exactly where most accounts cut corners.

We build and run all of it ourselves, so nothing falls between an ad agency, a web developer and a tracking contractor.

How it works

Tracking before spend, narrow before wide, data before opinion. The first 30 days are about building something we can trust. Everything after that is about making it better.
01
Week 1

Audit & economics

We review your account, competitors and market, then tell you what it will realistically cost to hit your goal. If paid search is not the right place to start, we say so before you spend anything.
02
Week 1–2

Tracking first

Conversion tracking, call tracking and dashboard wiring before launch, so every decision after day one is grounded in real signal.
03
Week 2–3

Build the account

Campaigns structured by service and geography, tight ad groups, ads written in your customers' language, and a landing page behind every campaign.
04
Week 3–4

Launch narrow

We start focused on the highest-intent searches and expand as data accumulates, testing creative angles against each other instead of guessing.
05
Month 2+

Follow the data

Budget flows to what produces leads at an acceptable cost. Everything else gets fixed or cut. Most accounts hit their stride by month two or three.
06
Every month

Report & scale

Cost per lead on your dashboard, next to every other channel. When a campaign earns more budget, we show you why with numbers.

What you get every month

No vanity metrics and no black box. You own the account, you see the data, and you know exactly what we did with your money.
01

Weekly search term review

Waste caught in days, not discovered at the end of the quarter.
02

Ad copy testing

New angles tested against the current winner, every month, so performance keeps climbing.
03

Landing page testing

Headlines, offers and forms tested on the pages your ads send people to.
04

Live dashboard

Spend, leads and cost per lead, updated daily and visible any time you want to look.
05

Monthly strategy call

What moved, why, and what we are changing next. In plain English, with a person who knows your account.
06

You own everything

Your account, your data, your tracking. Month-to-month, and nothing held hostage if you leave.

Google Ads or SEO?

Usually both, weighted toward whichever gap is costing you more right now. Ads also reveal quickly which messages convert, which sharpens the organic strategy.

FAQ

Answered questions.

Straight answers about how Google Ads work, what they cost, and when they make sense for your business.

1
How do Google Ads work?
Every search runs an auction. Your ad competes on your bid and on Quality Score, Google's rating of how relevant your keyword, ad and landing page are to that search. A more relevant advertiser can win a better position than a higher bidder, which is why account structure and landing pages matter as much as budget. You pay when someone clicks, and we track what happens after the click.
2
How much should I spend on Google Ads?
Enough to buy the clicks it takes to produce the leads you need. That depends on what clicks cost in your category and city, and how well your site converts. In the audit we work it backwards from your goal: leads needed, likely conversion rate, likely cost per click, and the monthly budget that implies. If the maths does not work, we tell you before you spend.
3
Are Google Ads worth it for a small business?
They are when you can fund enough clicks to learn from and have a way to handle the leads that come in. Search reaches people already looking for what you sell, which is why it tends to outperform for service businesses. When Google Ads disappoint, the cause is almost never the channel: it is loose keyword matching, missing negatives, weak landing pages, or tracking that was never set up correctly.
4
What is the difference between Google Ads and Local Services Ads?
Google Ads are auction campaigns you pay for per click, with full control over keywords, ads and landing pages. Local Services Ads sit above everything else for local service searches, charge per lead instead of per click, and carry the Google Guaranteed badge. LSA ranking depends heavily on reviews and how quickly you respond. Most service businesses should run both.
5
How long does it take for Google Ads to work?
Traffic starts the day campaigns go live. Useful optimization data takes a few weeks to build, and most accounts hit their stride by the second or third month as testing compounds. Lower-volume local markets take longer simply because conversions arrive more slowly. What you see immediately is the tracking: every lead on your dashboard from launch.
6
Why are my Google Ads not converting?
The usual causes, in order: broad match keywords attracting searches with no buying intent, no negative keyword list, traffic landing on a homepage instead of a page built for that search, and conversion tracking that counts the wrong actions. Weak relevance then lowers Quality Score, so you pay more for worse positions. Our audit shows which of these is costing you most before anything changes.
7
Should I hire an agency or manage it myself?
The platform is built to spend your budget whether or not your campaigns are set up well, and Google's own recommendations often optimize for spend rather than your margins. Managing it yourself is realistic if you can commit hours every week to search term reviews, bid adjustments, ad testing and tracking, and accept some wasted spend while you learn. An experienced manager brings patterns from other accounts in your industry and the discipline to cut what is not working. For most businesses the management fee costs less than the waste it removes.
8
Do you lock me into a contract?
No. We work month-to-month, and the ad account, tracking and data are yours. If you ever leave, you take everything with you.
